Great success! high five.

Posted by Otto  Published in Arduinome, CNC Mill

I’ve been talking about the CNC mill in the previous posts. Today I can show a useful result of my work. This is the faceplate for the Arduinome on the way. Actually it is the lower of two faceplates that will be sandwiched together. I’m making this from the Machine collective design as they seems to be out of business.

As I don’t do machine programming that well yet, the program was running very slow, this whole thing took about 4 hours to do. I thing I could do it in one if I tried again.

Another day comes to an end.

Yes, three updates on the same day. As the two other didn’t technically happened today I thought I might as well make another update. After work today I didn’t have my car anymore, it’s my fathers car and he needed it back. But still I wanted to  get some work on the cnc-mill done.  There where no other option than to take the bike to my office and continue the work. It would be easy if there where air in the tires.

I got some work done, the limit-switches for x and y axis are in place. And I rebuilt the last axis. Not much to talk about but that is what I did today.

More cnc

Posted by Otto  Published in CNC Mill

No pictures this time. Yesterday I fixed the x-axis and today I got the y-axis working. Previously I broke the y-axis, don’t ask me how. But the drive-nut didn’t work and I had to make a new. It went fine, but my welding skills need to be upgraded. At least the axis is fully functional now. I think about one more night would get the last axis in shape.

Then I’ll get myself a ”Dial Test Indicator” and adjust the table, and of course get the limit switches. I’ll have to upgrade two of the axis motors and get some cable chains. I’ll report back later.

Working on a project.

Posted by Otto  Published in Arduinome, CNC Mill

This is actually a old project that I need to make parts for a new project. I know I keep you hanging with hints of things I’m doing but not writing about. They will come as soon as they get to a state where I feel I can present them. Anyway, me and my friend have a office and in that office we have a small DIY cnc mill. It’s been standing still for almost a year as we didn’t get really good results from it. But now I need to make some faceplates for this other project and what would be better than to be able to make them myself.

Anyway, today I tore down the Z-axis and rebuild it. Before the motor almost stalled without any load. Now it is strong enough to hurt me, and so it did.
